1. How do we know what to do at a funeral?

The Funeral Director will be there to assist and guide you, your family and friends

2. Can the family carry the coffin?

Yes, however please advise the funeral Director if this is your wish.

3. Can we visit the deceased and pay our last respects?

Yes, our Chapel of Rest is available to you. Please contact the office to arrange your visit.

4. Can we have our choice of music played at the Crematorium or Church?

Yes, please let the Funeral Director know your choice of music as soon as you can.

5. How many hymns and pieces of music are we allowed?

The number of hymns or pieces of music you choose is a personal choice. However, as a guide music is usually played entering the Church or Crematorium, then 2 hymns or pieces of music played during the service.

6. Is each cremation carried out individually?

Yes, the Crematorium Attendant checks each coffin nameplate before it is placed into its individual cremation chamber.

7. What can I do with the Cremated remains?

There are numerous options of what to do with cremated remains.

  1. They can be placed in a Garden of Remembrance.
  2. Placed in an existing grave or cremation pot.
  3. A new plot purchased and placed in there.
  4. Kept at home in a special casket or memorial.
  5. Scattered in a special place.
  6. Turned into keepsake jewellery.
  7. If you wish to discuss any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact us.

8. How will I know who attended the funeral?

Attendance cards are distributed at the funeral service.

9. What are Doctors forms?

When a funeral is a cremation, 2 doctors MUST attend and certify death. The FIRST doctor must be the doctor who attended the deceased during their illness. The role of the SECOND doctor is essentially one of confirmation. This doctor must not be related to the first doctor, either through practice or family. Each doctor will make a separate charge, which we will pay on behalf of the deceased’s family.

10. How many people can be seated in a limousine?

Each limousine accommodates 6 people in the rear compartment and there is room for 1 person in front with the chauffer.

11. What about catering for the funeral?

If you require catering after the funeral, you can make your own arrangements or we can provide you with details of local catering services.

12. What about Newspaper Notices?

If you require a Death Notice or Acknowledgment in a local National newspaper, please let us know and we will make the necessary arrangements on your behalf.

13. When is the Funeral Account payable?

The Funeral Account is sent to the person responsible for making the arrangements or the solicitor, approximately 7 days following the funeral. Payment is the required within 28 days and can be settled by cash, cheque, debit card, credit card or BASCS payment.

14. How soon after a burial can I put a headstone on the grave?

The time varies dependant on the type of ground. Our stonemasons, Blackwell’s Stonemasons, will be pleased to advise you regarding the time and implications associated with the headstones and memorials.
